Type & Riso

Poster Design

A poster design for the "Type & Riso Printing" workshop at the University of East London. It features layered pink, yellow, and green-grey riso-printed letters arranged chaotically over an image of a wristwatch, with workshop details in small blue text at the bottom.

Tasked by the university’s Art & Design course leader to lead part of the workshop, I also took the initiative to design a promotional poster for the event. The workshop introduced prospective students to hands-on printing techniques, encouraging experimentation with typography, shapes, and materials.

A horizontal streak runs across the top part of the composition.A riso-printed artwork where letters are scattered across a background filled with a bold colourful patterns, creating a contrast between type and abstract shapes.

Designed to reflect the hands-on and experimental nature of the workshop.

Featuring playful riso-printed images I created while testing the machines, with the workshop details subtly placed at the bottom, the poster aimed to capture the tactile, experimental, and unpredictable nature of image-making and analogue printing. This approach was designed to invite participants interested in design, art, typography, printing, and analogue techniques — and those who enjoy hands-on image-making, experimental printing, and working with physical type and objects.
